Anyone thinking of getting the JYD book King of New Orleans, do it. its a pearler. not a true bio, tho it does covers bits of his life and WWE career, it mainly deals with his time in Mid South and when Bill Watts made him a main event star. Covers his feud with Freebirds, Dibiase, Butch Reed, etc, also goes into the racial and political problems Louisiana had and how some promoters and some wrestlers didnt wanna see a black guy main eventing. has some great booking ideas and angles, as well as things not to do. said in another post it shows how good, and bad, Watts was as a booker.
one of the best books I've read, but then so was Duggans.

Quite a bit, but wrestling related, Sex, Lies and Headlocks. This came out a few years back, and while it appears on the cover to be on Vince and the WWF, they also write about Heyman, Watts and the Crockett's. Had a few insights I hadn't read or known of beforehand, and as much as Vince was underhanded and hypocritical, you have to respect the guy for how he got through it all to where he is today. Approx six months or so before Mike Tyson jumped on board, Vince was supposedly told by Hasbro Toys that the WWF was a dead brand. Anybody else might have capitulated, so in that I have a ton of respect just soley on his positive thinking and moving forward when everybody else shot him down.

Been reading:
Brad Thor - The Last Patriot. Saw this one a shelf at some markets and remembered Recky giving him a recommendation. Grabbed it, and loved it, top action thriller. Good call Recky!
John Grisham - The Litigators. Love Grisham, he seems to stay in the lawyer zone for most of his stuff, but does enough on each to make them different.
Robert Crais - Taken. Just started this yesterday, and already loving it. The latest in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series.

Russian Criminal Tattoo Encylopedia Volume II Picked the Hardcover copy off Fishpond for $15 + Free Shipping and it is a excellent read The author of this book, a former Russian prison guard, spent years documenting these tattoos and unraveling their meanings, and in the process has created a fascinating cultural history. however, these tattoos are not like anything you've probably ever seen before, even in the American prison system. Many of them are quite shocking in their sexual detail and depiction of violence. Some of these tattoos were forcibly applied to the wearers' bodies, as punishment for reneging on gambling debts, serving as an informant, or other infractions of the thieves' code. most of the "art" depicted is quite repellent. But it's a glimpse into a world most people didn't even know existed until the arrival of the Russian mob

Got loads of them, but not time to read them. Like Punisher Deadpool Batman X-Men Avengers
Last thing I read was Red Skull: Incarnate limited series. That was pretty sinister & cool. I read that one on my iPhone.
Anything Garth Ennis, Kevin Smith, Warren Ellis, Christ Claremont, Bendis has my attention.

American Conspiracies by Jesse Ventura. very interesting read and covers a lot of subjects. the assassinations of JFK, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Malcom X, 911, Watergate, The Jonestown Massacre, the rigged elections and a few other topics. he gives the official take on what happened, what actually did happen, and what he thinks happened. then at the end of the chapter suggests what we should do about it, as in asking questions etc. doesnt hold back on his thoughts, and is very well researched. Isnt shy about pointing the finger at the media or the Bushes either.

Just reminded me lonewolf, I totally recommend Spy/counterspy; The autobiography of Dusko Popov
Ian Flemming based a portion of James Bond on him.
This book is about the top Nazi master spy (and British counter spy) of WW II. "James Bond" faced fictional dangers, Dusko Popov faced the real danger of the Nazi Gestapo. The book lacks an index and a table of contents, but is exceptionally well written. I think this book is British Security Coordination's posthumous revenge on J. Edgar Hoover. It first revealed the circumstances of his encounter with Hoover and the Nazi interest in Pearl Harbor. He told the yanks about Perl Harbor a few weeks before it happened and they did NOTHING.
I've got the Hardcover, and I might bring it out to read again, as it's been YEARS.

cool mate sounds interesting. might have to check it out.
with Jesse's book, after reading this im amazed at how dirty the Bush family is and why they werent impeached or jailed. Bush Sr was involved in Watergate and several people from that were connected to the JFK killing and Bush's grand father was also involved in a plot to kill Roosevelt. and had business dealings with a steel baron in Germany who helped fund Hitler's rise to power.

Exactly mate, I saw that doco and really opens your eyes. its like Jesse said, he isnt a commie or degrading America, just asking questions about what happened. A guy who worked for LAX Air Control hear all the conversations going on about the 4 planes that crashed and asked why NORAD didnt send fighters to stop them hitting cities. The word came from the White House to stand down.
A rescue worker who helped save people after the twin towers collapsed, even testified that there were explosions coming from the 2nd tower BEFORE the plane hit it. So did several other people. This guy is now on a no fly card. Meaning any time he flies anywhere, he gets pulled out of line and questioned.
Jesse points the finger at Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, etc about their involvement. Bush claims that they had no knowledge the attacks were gonna take place, but minutes after the 2nd tower fell, the White House had a list of names of all the hijackers.
Explain to me how you couldnt find the black boxes in the rubble but you could find passports of 2 of the hijackers?

and then Moore did a doco called sicko...about, among other poor souls, a group of rescue / fireman / paramedic workers from the towers Moore takes to Cuba..A COMMUNIST COUNTRY...so they could get medication to treat their 9/11 induced diseases, because american medical is so far out of whack it isnt even funny...for instance one of the fireys needs a inhaler like a asthsma puffer...$475.00 bucks each stateside (if he can even get them, depends whether his HMO can be fucked signing his prescription or not )..ANYWAY, the guy got them in cuba for $1.50....Moore ask's why do these guys even have to pay for medicine at all...a good fkn question

know what you mean with the asthma puffers mate. i had to get a doctors note to take over more than 1 last year just in case. a friend of mine came here from america in 2002 and got sick and had to be rushed to hospital. she was worried as she didnt know what our health system was like. even if ur dying unless you can produce health insurance, you're fucked
