And again you missed the point, why am I not surprised. The hysteria around it is exactly the same as it was with the GST and it'll be a complete fizzer for all the doomsayers.
My views on it haven't changed since this thread started. I'm willing to give it more than 3 days before I can it or applaud it.

A lot of people thought that the 10% GST was a temporary percentage before it went to 15%, as the tax did in NZ, I believe. That is where a lot of the fear came from initially.
I remember the hysteria surrounding it. "First ten, then fifteen, then twenty percent!" was what was going around.

That's testing the memory, it's almost 20 years ago.
