Born on the edge of a mountain top Monkey is funky and ever tough He knew every magic trick under the sun He's a God to everyone Lets have some fun
Went something like that I think.
Anyway, what did you think of the show?
Who was your fave character? Monkey, Sandy, Pigsy or Tripataka?
Have you watched in your adulthood and has it stood the test of time?
Was Tripataka male or female?
Anything else you wanna add re Monkey?

Hated it. Even the other day, the wife referenced it, and I just roll my eyes. The dark cloud on ABC during my childhood.

One of my fave shows growing up.
Before Foxtel, on Galaxy, i would wait until 11pm-1am, on Arena I think it was to watch it, even though I had school the next day. My uncles taped every episode from it's original run on ABC in the early 80's, so I had very easy access to it.
Bought the DVD box set last year, finally got to see the undubbed episodes. Just wish there had been a season 3 so we could of actually seen them get to India, but the actress who played Tripitaka was very ill.
I still watch it today, re-watched the DVD's 3 or 4 times now.

It open my blinkers to even knowing about Eastern cinema. Must admit I loved it. Soulful.

I loved the show. I want the DVDs. That was something completely different. A totally new concept. Nothing beats a flying cloud

I was a fan as well, I didn't recognise it at the time, but it so original compared to anything else on Australian tv at the time.
My fave was Sandy, I can't actually remember why though.
I haven't watched it since it was on tv. If it was put on Foxtel somewhere, I'd def give it a look again.
I honestly couldn't remember if Tripitaka was male or female. I think as a kid, I thought male, cause a chick wouldn't be bald.
I loved the song, and the way Monkey would signal for his cloud.

Journey to the West has been made into so many adaptions, both TV and Film.
Forbidden Kingdom is a great watch, though isn't really like Monkey, just the basic plot.
Anyone seen the new Monkey Magic movie? I marked out big time when the original Monkey, Masaaki Sakai, appeared! ;D Though it was a terrible film.
