As they are in Australia at the moment, lets kick this off with U2.
A career spanning near 30 years, 12 studio album, a truckload of hit singles and many awards?
What are the songs and albums you like, and the ones you don't?
The first song you ever heard by them?
Does the political message wear a bit thin after awhile?
Have you seen them in concert, what did you think?
Anything you wanna add, feel free.

first song i belive was Sunday bloody Sunday...under a blood red sky, and joshua tree are the best albums for mine...although i do have the dvd of U2 rattle and Hum, not too foul either...but being essentially a hard rock / metal guy...if i dont play their stuff for 6 months, well I dont play their stuff for 6 months......Bono's political barrage, well I think Billy Connolly siad it best when Bono bagged him out over something that offended bono only..." Hey Bono, quit yapping , pick up the guitar and just fuckin sing...ps you too Sting"....couldnt agree more

I lost a lot of respect for U2 when Bono started telling the world how shit should be.
You're a rock star.. you're the last person anyone should be listening to in regards to doing anything important. You wanna wipe 3rd world debt and hunger? Do it yourself and pay the bill, between Bono and Sting they could probably buy Africa.
Ironically the more self important Bono started believing he was, the worst his music got. The went from being " U2 ", to sounding like a Filter cover band.

Not the biggest U2 fan in the world due to Bono's wankiness, but I do like their music for the most part, and scored free tix (everyone I knew who went got free tix) to their show. Very "production line"kind of show. Slick and at times passionless. Didn't enjoy it anywhere near what I thought I would.
Going to see Bon Jovi tonight at the same venue, so will be a good comparison.

I like U2, but only have I think 2 of their albums.
First song I heard was Pride (In The Name Of Love). Still love it to this day.
Fave song is One, love it. Also like Desire, Where The Streets Have No Name, When Love Comes To Town, Vertigo, Beautiful Day, Still Haven't Found ....
Can't stand The Sweetest Thing. Also Numb, The Fly, Discoteque, when they went slighty techno ish and such.
The politics bore me at times, just want, good rock songs please.

I find both of them pretty middle of the road. You can throw in The Beatles & Queen in the vanilla bunch, too. I saw U2 many years back & was not much of a fan, but I was impressed with the show. Bon Jovi do the rock ballad thing pretty well, but I just don't see the appeal. I like a few of their songs like Bad Medicine & Dead Or Alive. Maybe I'm a little too bent & I like my rock and roll pretty ripped up & odd.

We had 'All I want is You' as our wedding waltz...so that one holds a special place in the heart. I do like a lot of their other songs, but they lost me around that period where they released the seriously shite Lemon and Numb. What was that album? Zooropa or something...terrible.
For the most part, since then they've been pretty boring. Early days though, up to say Achtung Baby they were a high quality band, with plenty of great tracks.

U2 Night & Day? Shirley an intentional jest, Recky?
Delve into Bono & friends covering show tune legend Cole Porter. U2 love getting onto soundtracks don't they?
Tomb Raider - Elevation
Batman Forever - Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me
The Batman (cartoon) Edge does the tune here
Love this modern take on Batman. Especially The Batmobile & Bane (in 'roided up red outfit)
