I've been summons to go, and I just can't. I rang the sheriffs office to find out the process to get excused, and explained why, and they said, it takes about a week to process, but I'm up tomorrow. They've told me to turn up and ask to be excused and to show proof. I've prepared a letter explaining how it would cripple my business, and I've got a supporting letter from my accountant. I should be right, and if that's not good enough, I'm just gonna leave, and pay the $2,200 fine. That would cost me less, than taking me out of my company for upto 5 weeks. That could destroy me, so 2 gran is nothing compared to not having a company left. If I was just working for someone, I'd love to go, it would be a paid holiday. In my case, 5 weeks, and your boss has to pay you. I know, I've paid a couple of mine cause they had to go Any of you been called up? Any fun cases?

I've only ever got the call up once, then it was canned the night before.
I know with our work, what ever you get paid from doing the duty, you have to give that to work, or work makes up the differnce in pay, you don't get it extra.

If you can waste 2 or 3 hours out of your day I would recommend to go the chances you get called in for a case are slim to none if not you have a huge fine and they will hit you up again witihin a year.
