I have many friends but the favourite would be one lets call him the captain. I have known him since kindergarten born on the same day same year same hospital. There are so many good moments to recall but my favourite would be two years ago. The captain got hooked on the herion with a $1500 a week habit and had to resort to armed robberies to pay for it even though he could still hold down a job as one of sydney's best chefs I lost contact with him during this period and I knew what he was up to using the stuff I thought he was just smoking it not booting it up in his arm and didn't know about the jobs he was doing to pay for it and was quite shocked when I found out he was getting locked away for a year. I visited him a few times in jail but didn't really keep in touch when he got out gave him some time to clean himself up which took a while but eventually did. A bit over two years ago now after another mates bucks night I organised him a cheap hooker of a phone chat line some 18yr old Ice fiend with the promise of drugs and cash I ended up getting up her first and then the captain got her for the rest of the night which was his first root out of jail. Ended up giving her the drugs but when it came to the $100 she wanted for the sex he gave her $5 for the train ride home and said thats it. Having been ripped off by a ice fiend for $150 a few months ago myself it doesn't bother me you get what you give in this world. Well he is in Thailand at the moment coming back next week and saying to me I have to head over there next year when he returns there as you can get women for a whole week for $200AUD and not street workers that have the dreaded lergy so I am thinking about going for a bit of debuarchary and watch some Thai Boxing

at the moment, I can categorically state without fear of retribution that the missus is my best mate...same music, same sports, well, she goes for the roosters and I go for the eels, but our soccer teams are the same, ME..tons in common...
prior to this my two best mates, I buried because of separate drunk drivers incidents...we met at the wrestling at the Hordern, oh those many years ago, we started going to Parramatta eels games together and on more than one occasion got drunk as fools at various rock gigs back in the days of "pub" rock...the biggest honor I gave them was to go the the trials of their murderers and stand up for them as a character witness and I think about them regularly..RIP Bruce and Brett

I don't know and it's sort of hard to pick.. it's really been a list of different people over the years as I've moved from one stage of my life to another.
I really only keep in contact with two people I was friends with less than 10 years ago, and even then contact is few and far between.
One of them had an accident early this year, and we all came together again, and he was very appreciative for the support, and privately thanked me for it.
At the end of the day, as much as I like my alone time, every thing is planned around the me and the girlfriend. And that's not a bad thing. I'm over clubs and pubs, over massive nights out, over strip clubs.

I have two really good mates, and then another group who I rate below them - not as blokes, but just in terms of closeness and shared experiences. First is Joe, who has really made a success out of himself. He is high up now within Telstra, but we started school together in prep, and have stayed mates all the way through. He called me yesterday and told me that he finally fucked the chick from work he's been flirting with for a year. About time. Pity he is married and his wife is not only smarter than him, but stronger. If she finds out, she'll kill him, and get away with it! I got a transvestite stripper for him at his bucks night. The he/she beat the shit out of him - he still has scars on his back from the whipping he/she gave him, and as he was tied to the chair, there was nowhere for him to go. Joe has a habit of starting trouble, then quickly taking three steps backwards, leaving me standing in front of him. We once walked home from the city completely naked after an incident at the Men's Gallery. It was fucking cold too. Got a lot of car horns going that night. We've shared women, been so drunk that we can barely stand, and so stoned we couldn't get off the couch. Plus, he's a real dumb cunt. The other is Johnny, who is like me, only worse at everything... which is probably why I love him! He is pretty down on the world, but we've been mates for 30 years - you don't walk away from someone when they're down with that sort of history. He fancies himself as an inventor, and is a pessimistic optimist, if that makes any sense - he talks himself out of the positives he sees on the horizon. He's a conspiracy theorist, and an alcoholic... wow, I don't think I've ever called him that... but he is. He'd do anything for you if you're a mate - he just doesn't do enough for himself. I've given him three jobs over the duration and he's fucked them all up. Still, I always give him a heads up when things come up. He owes me about $15K but I know I'll never see it, and I don't ask for it. Because we're mates.
