Well I have been thinking about it last night and looking at prices on ebay and thinking about doing a Mame Tabletop as a present to myself for giving up the weed and such a project will keep myself preoccupied well and do it before I hit my credit debt hard over the next year.
Just need some help from fellow inmates I'm looking at you kek I will buy the empty Tabletop with monitor joysticks etc..
Where could i find a old school computer for cheap with no OS as I have heard windows 98 is the best way to go which I am sure i could torrent.
And any info or links on how I would to connect the computer to the monitor and joysticks, buttons on the tabletop would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Cheers Kek I didnt realise the Tabletop is only a cabinet no joystick or controllers or monitor so I will rethink it through as there is a lot of work to put into it my mate has a Arcade Machine with Mortal Kombat and recommended to get a 6 button controller but claims they are hard to install. A ebay seller offered to do me this one with 60 games if I went Privately to save him ebay fees for $500 posted but I doubt I will play those atari classics like centipede heres the link let me know your thoughts. cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261095809910&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123#ht_2064wt_1219

My mates advice on that $500 ebay one was this.... I think I will start eventually building one up even if it takes a few months to do.
10.4 inch LCD - mate, that's rubbish. The machine is way too small. There are companies that sell cocktail kits for about $300. Albeit, you'll need to get your own hardware / software, it just depends how much time you want to invest in this project.
Go LCD and not CRT. CRT's take far too much room in a cocktail setup. Make sure your case can fit a 22 inch (minimum) monitor. Good luck playing two player split screen games on a 10inch screen.
People don't like LCD's for arcade machines as they don't have that 80's retro feel. Mame however has an option to change that and gives an old school look to your LCD.
Get a core 2 duo E6600 to run your games. There are some decent mame games which are heavily dependant on CPU speeds. Core 2's are cheap as nowadays and are far more superior than the old quads.
Buttons are easy as to put in and your LCD will be also.
I'm interested to see how you go as its something I've thought about doing for a while
