Thought I killed another PC... - First one had the hal.dll BS. I failed to repair the operating system. - Next older one powers up (with new power supply), monitor is on & no picture, can't even start in safe mode. May be graphics card? The one I'm one got a virus which AVG, Spybot & Ad-Aware did nothing to remove. Slow as all hell, google redirecting virus hard to remove. I uninstalled all of them & got Trend Micro which is working at treat. No more BS popups & pretty good speed. Google Chrome browser. Hooray!

My guess, it's overheating. Try ConvertXtoDVD Desktop. The power supply isnt that old and its just been cleaned, but somethings not right in there. Guess its one of those trial and error cases hey...

Guess its one of those trial and error cases hey... Open the side case, then try and do your conversion. Pick cooler time of day. See if it still shuts down. Random shutting down is pretty much always a cpu overheating issue. If it's restarting, that's different, but shutting down, I could almost bet my balls it's a cpu overheating issue.

My PC is tripping off my fuse box. Anyone know why this might be happening?? My guess is your PC is shortting out somewhere. Put your machine on a surge protector, so that it doesn't trip the main's for till you work it out. Power Supply is more than likely is the suspect.

So I've downloaded some Maps for my TomTom.
How do I install them? I doubt it's a matter of overwriting the files on there.

(phone or specific tomtom gps) How did you download the maps? Either way, yes basically overwrite them, BUT BACK THEM UP FIRST. Some maps require a software upgrade of the tomtom to read newer maps

TomTom GPS I downloaded them from a torrent. Ok, you should be able to just overwrite the files, but backup the current files from the device, JUST INCASE the device does not recognise them.

It didn't work. The unit just froze upon starting when the new maps were installed. I've read that it's a pretty common problem though so a backup, format and reload the backup is suppose to help.

Like I thought, same thing used to happen with my old win mobile. Every new version of maps, requires a newer tomtom software version on the device. Install tomtom on your PC. You might get the option to upgrade via the proper manner.
