Which bands/singers did you discover through the show?
Which clips still stick in your head, be they for creativity/a hot piece in the clip/something unusual/etc?
Guest Hosts you remember? Did any of them make a dick of themselves, was an arrogant tool, dropped a word they shouldn't have, stuffed something up, etc?
Who did you watch it with, family and/or mates, and how fun was it to bag any songs they were into that you weren't? ;D What were some of the songs you coudn't stand the sight of?
Any other thoughts on Countdown?

Which bands/singers did you discover through the show?
ACDC, DRAGON, HUSH, ANGELS, AUSSIE CRAWL, SKYHOOKS..and if memory serves, the first time i saw Motorhead playing Iron Fist was on Countdown
Which clips still stick in your head, be they for creativity/a hot piece in the clip/something unusual/etc? -
Bon scott in schoolgirls get up doing, I think, Can I sit next to you girl....and the skyhooks clip, were that weird dude covered in padded hands, climbed out of the set and danced around while the band were playing oh and Angry kissing Pete Wells ( or Digger) on national tele created quite the ruckus
Guest Hosts you remember? Did any of them make a dick of themselves, was an arrogant tool, dropped a word they shouldn't have, stuffed something up, etc? -
Prince Charles was pretty good or stunned, one or the other...and anytime Shirl or JPY hosted the show, you knew Molly was gonna cop it...I do seem to remember Iggy Pop being quite the fkn tool , but i cant remember if he was hosting or not
Who did you watch it with, family and/or mates, and how fun was it to bag any songs they were into that you weren't? ;D What were some of the songs you coudn't stand the sight of? - .
..gotta say I watched it with family, but they didnt hang around once they found out who was on mostly, so i got too listen in peace and quiet.....songs i couldn't stand...WELL...since the list would be huge, lets just say the genre that gave me the shits was that new wave crap that came out of the UK.....seeing Boy George and that fkn Marilyn bloke and the thompson twins etc etc so on and so forth...well suffice to say I eventually gave up on Countdown for a few years ...mind you i did enjoy giving the acts from the new wave genre a spray when they appeared
Any other thoughts on Countdown? - the ABC tried to keep it going with new hosts and new format...but it sucked and the pin was pulled...people just cant leave well enough alone

Which bands/singers did you discover through the show? Kiss, The Police, Cold Chisel, Crowded House, Icehouse, Air Supply, Hoodoo Gurus, Pseudo Echo. Was such a good vehicle for Aust/NZ bands to get exposure. Which clips still stick in your head, be they for creativity/a hot piece in the clip/something unusual/etc? I Was Made For Loving You by Kiss. When I was 7, Gene Simmons both fascinated me, and scared the crap out of me. In this clip, there is a part near the end where he's kinda hunching over a touch, looking very demonic and all and tilts his head sideways. Cool, but freaky at the same time to a Grade 2 kid like me. I Got You by Split Enz. The band is in a painting, and they start moving. Holy crap, people in the painting aren't supposed to move. Wow, they are moving! Again, I was young, 8 years old, so it was a cool effect I thought. Guest Hosts you remember? Did any of them make a dick of themselves, was an arrogant tool, dropped a word they shouldn't have, stuffed something up, etc? Didn't like most of them to be honest, I didn't want talk, I wanted songs. Who did you watch it with, family and/or mates, and how fun was it to bag any songs they were into that you weren't? ;D What were some of the songs you coudn't stand the sight of? I watched it with my younger sister, those were good days. She likes alot of the same music I do, both back then, and now, she's a good kid As for what I didn't like, rap was becoming big in the early to mid 80s and even then I wondered What is this crap? Oh, You Think You're A Man by Devine. Ugh, I mean, no. Um, oooh. Get away from me. You're The Voice by John Farnham, hated it then, hate it now. Any other thoughts on Countdown? It was a staple of my childhood, keen as to see the new show on Sundays at 6, and if there were some clips on it I liked, I made sure to catch the replay the next Saturday at 6. I just discovered they have a website with video clips, interviews, competitions and such. Recky, their current featured artist are Hush. www.countdown.com.au/

Plenty of quality in that 10, even the songs I don't particularly like are better than most of the shit around today. Here is this weeks top 10...not a good song amongst it: PARTY ROCK ANTHEM LMFAO Feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock GIVE ME EVERYTHING Pitbull Feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer ROLLING IN THE DEEP Adele CALIFORNIA KING BED Rihanna PRICE TAG Jessie J Feat. B.o.B OWN THIS CLUB Marvin Priest WE RUN THE NIGHT DJ Havana Brown SWEAT (DAVID GUETTA REMIX) Snoop Dogg Vs. David Guetta THE LAZY SONG Bruno Mars WHERE THEM GIRLS AT David Guetta Feat. Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida

Snoops made it past that already, and if he's not around in 10 more years, at least his music still will be. Maybe that fag Guetta might be around. The rest, no chance.
