About time something like this came along. Most of the comic movies are very tame, full of themselves and faux theatrical. This was confronting, hardcore & very funny. Hit-Girl stole the show. Great alternative comic book movie fun. Sits well on the shelf next to other alternative comic movies like Sin City & Watchmen. More of it I say.

Watched Dirty Harry the other day. Never seen it before, but what a great movie. Will be on the look out for the box set now.

Watched: Hulk Vs. (Wolverine) (Marvel Animation) It started off well with Logan tracking Hulk & the two trading fierce blows & lots of wanton destruction, then it oddly swerved into Weapon X origin territory with unneeded cameos from Sabretooth, Deadpool & Omega Red. It seemed to distract my viewing. Overall it's still quite OK, without being amazing essential viewing.
Next - more animation Hulk Vs. (Thor) Planet Hulk Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths Green Lantern: First Flight Wonder Woman

A bunch of chick flicks.
When in Rome
Standard Rom-Com. It's funny, but as much as it tries it doesn't hit the mark or reach the bar, standard-setters like 50 First Dates have set.
But it's got Kristen Bell in it. I could watch he regardless of the plot.
**.5
She'sOut of My League
Same deal as When in Rome. Stars one of the Apatow hanger-ons, so expect the same type of humour and styling.
***
HotTub Time Machine
It's like Click meets a Judd Apatow movie.

Shoot Em Up - Clive Owen turn your brain off at the door action flick. Very stylish and over the top, it's very tounge in cheek the whole way through. Enjoyed it.
Son of Rambow - Really fun flick set in the 80s about a kid who's lived a sheltered religious life, who becomes friends with a knockabout rascal. When the sheltered kid sees Rambo they decide to make their own version of it. Slow build and not for everyone but I really enjoyed it.

Tropic Thunder - was a bit wary of this because I hate Jack Black and usually hate anything he is in....but this was pretty funny and even Black was okay in it. Helps having decent talents like Stiller and Downey Jnr leading the way, along with a classic role for Tom Cruise. He's been on a downward slope for years, but he showed here he can be pretty f'n funny.

I watched this the other night aswell, and didn't do too much for me but it wasn't bad to have in the background whilst working. I am a massive Cruise fan - contrary to all opinions - and he was pretty f'n funny indeed. Downey Jr. was also good, but yeah Black was pretty painful even though I normally dont mind him. I have to jump on The Other Guys bandwagon here aswell, my GOD that was funny. Wahlberg just yells at everything, Ferrell was back to his random best and shit, those TLC jokes had me in stitches. Cant wait to watch it again on DVD. Watched St. Elmo's Fire cos I havent seen it in years. Didn't miss much.

The new Nightmare on Elm. St.
Oh so very good. A total reinvention of the character.

Thirst - It was better thasn I was expecting and some awesome, awesome camera work. Anything directed by Chan-wook Park is worth a look. ****
Predators - Not as good as I was expecting but not bad either, better than any of the horrible Alien/Predator movies that have come out of the last few years. Thought the idea got a little cluster fuck at the end but they obviously wanted certain stuff in there. Love the throw backs to the original movie. ***
Pandorum - Very Event Horizon-ish to begin with but has it's own thing going on too. There was a lot of stuff I liked but I think there were just too many ideas in there. I guessed the end like ten minutes into it but there were a couple of fakes along the way which helped it a little. Really like Ben Foster as an actor (Russel from Six Feet Under. The wanna be vampire human in the cell from 30 Days of Night) and he does a good job here, some cool twisted expressions. ***1/2
Get Him to the Greek - Much better than I was expecting and turned me around a little on Jonah Hill... but only a little. I didn't watch all of it though so I won't rate it.
Ironman 2 - Went in with expectations and I was still impressed. Much akin to the new Batman movies, whomever is doing the Ironman series is nailing the characters spot on. Never been the biggest Gwyneth Paltrow fan but shes a great Pepper and her chemistry with Robert Downey Jr.is, to turn a phrase, off the hook. Adding Don Cheadle, Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke to the cast didn't hurt either. ****1/2
