When did you first see it?
Fave characters?
Characters you didn't like?
Too edgey with high school kids dealing with issues of drugs, sex, domestic violence, breaking the law, pregnancy, eating issues, weight issues and more? Or did they get the balance right?
DeGrassi Jr High, then DeGrassi High, now DeGrassi: The Next Generation. You seen any eps of each series?
Any other thoughts on DeGrassi?

When did you first see it? The Afternoon Show on ABC early 90's. Probably around the time I started High School, maybe before that even.
Fave characters? I like Joey, Snake and Arthur
Characters you didn't like? For some reason I wasn't a fan of Wheels and some of the girls shitted me, but can't remember names.
Too edgey with high school kids dealing with issues of drugs, sex, domestic violence, breaking the law, pregnancy, eating issues, weight issues and more? Or did they get the balance right? I thought they balance was good. Kind of taught you about the dangers of growing up without having that awkward chat with your parents.
DeGrassi Jr High, then DeGrassi High, now DeGrassi: The Next Generation. You seen any eps of each series? Haven't seen the Next Generation, but I believe it has Spike and her daughter in it??
Any other thoughts on DeGrassi? Now I have the song that Joey's band(The name escape's me right now) sang stuck in my head.....

Zit Remedy
I loved this show. Spike was awesome. I didnt see the other series but DJH was a staple in our high school mostly to make fun of as high schoolers do but it was our version of desparate housewives or what ever other soap opera you can think of. We all made fun of it but we wouldnt miss an episode or fail to discuss what happened. I still think Stacie Mistysyn is one of the hottest women of the planet
Awesome memories of this show

I'm a DeGrassi mark, have the dvd sets and love them. Plus, as I work with kids, I see similarities between situations from DeGrassi and those in my workplace. So the show has given me the odd tip in how to handle issues.
When did you first see it? Late 80s, my younger sister and I never missed a show.
Fave characters? Caitlin, Spike and her wicked hair do, Snake. The Next Generation, I like Ellie, JT and Manny.
Characters you didn't like? None.
Too edgey with high school kids dealing with issues of drugs, sex, domestic violence, breaking the law, pregnancy, eating issues, weight issues and more? Or did they get the balance right?
I thought then that it was amazing that all stuff was going on with teens. And then as you hit your teen years yourself, you realise the show was spot on. Cause everyone at one time or another has issues to be dealt with. Sometimes there is no easy answer, and you just deal with it and keep moving on, without actually knowing that you're learning lifes lessons in the process.
DeGrassi Jr High, then DeGrassi High, now DeGrassi: The Next Generation. You seen any eps of each series? Watched DJH, DH and now The Next Generation. It's on Nickolodeon, and yeah Skinny, Spike is a Mum to the daughter she had when you were watching it. Her name is Emma. Also in the show are Joey, Snake, Caitlin at times.
TNG deals with all of the common issues but also modern issues of internet safety, having a Muslim background, mod cons like mobiles, Ipods and such, and how they impact kids, and more.
Any other thoughts on DeGrassi? Ahead of it's time. A staple of my childhood, and still a show I enjoy now. Every character has good points, and flaws, which it makes it very well rounded.

When did you first see it? I first saw it in the early 90's. Fave characters? Stephanie Kaye baby! Characters you didn't like? Man I can't remember Too edgey with high school kids dealing with issues of drugs, sex, domestic violence, breaking the law, pregnancy, eating issues, weight issues and more? Or did they get the balance right? I'm a DeGrassi mark, have the dvd sets and love them. Plus, as I work with kids, I see similarities between situations from DeGrassi and those in my workplace. It's funny you say you work with kids and see situations like these all the time, I have dealt with about half a dozen complaints about this show from parents who are unhappy about the content matter, even though it's realistic from young people today. DeGrassi Jr High, then DeGrassi High, now DeGrassi: The Next Generation. You seen any eps of each series? Yes and yes and yes. Any other thoughts on DeGrassii? I loved it. I even love how they have incorporated Emma into the new series.

How weird is this, I'm flying home from Perth to Melbourne and I'm thinking,
" I wonder what shows they'll be discussing on the Asylum boards.. and how come it's never been DeGrassi Jr High? "

I have vague memories of it. I was only young when it was on ABC in the early 1990s.
What I do remember is, the main kid used to pass off TikTaks as drugs. He had a container strapped to the bottom of his skateboard. He later formed a band called " Zit Remedy " and had a song that went " every body wants something, so take ya money... and never give up! " It was song writing genius by Canadian standards.
There was a token black kid, and someone's brother turned out to be gay. I remember an episode when his brother came to visit and he did the whole " you know that guy I live with.... " angle.
Spike got pregnant. And someone got their bike trashed.
Later in DeGrassi High, the school was being used to shoot a music video. They broke in to watch it and got to met some forgettable 80s Canadian pop star.
Also I believe the original High School they went to merged with another or something.. they went from being the " cool " kids to being outsiders.
One girl was also given a convertible for her 16th. While the main kid had to deal with driving a piece of shit. Thats about it.
