now i've always enjoyed a top class Super Hero ( or villian)..I mean i had a stack of 20c DC comics as tall as me ( so not that many LOL ) so when the super hero genre started up in movie making i was most stoked...and for the most part i think, marvel, in particular have done an outstanding job sticking to known origin lines....BUT....I just watched the new The Green Hornet....and as far as i can remember Brett Reid ( the hornets alter ego) wasnt a drunken fn spoilt rich boy lay-a-bout....but they got kato down pat.....SO...your fave ( or not) hero flix....by the way cant wait for captain America, Green lantern and Thor

Top of the pile: Watchmen - all kinds of hardcore awesomeness.
Always love a well done origin story, too: Blade (Blade 2 is sicko sweet, too) Kick-Ass Batman Begins Superman Iron Man X-Men Hellboy The sequels never quite make the grade IMO.
V For Vendetta - another forgotten gem, top shelf anarchy. Sin City - a great movie version of the iconic comic. Defendor - Woody Harrelson believes he is a super-hero. Very solid thoughtful movie.
Some of the bad ones: Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (The Thing & SS should have had a slugfest) Spider-Man 3 (not 2, which was pretty good) X-Men 3 (Clusterf*ck) Wolverine: Origins (intro was great brooding, historical, it went down from there) Iron Man 2 Blade Trinity - The video game style easy killing of the Vamps at the end was OTT
Some of the bad ones I liked: Elektra - Jen Garner in red tights, hmmm. Daredevil Fantastic Four
I've yet to see: The Spirit Catwoman

I don't mean to go for the obvious answer.
The Dark Knight. Hands down.
First one was a great origins story. Dark Knight just took it and ran it into awesome territory. Great Villain in The Joker, and Bale plays an excellent almost anti-hero.

The Dark Knight was brilliant. Showed how super hero movies SHOULD be made from here on in. A lot like HEAT in many ways (another 5 star movie) with some stand out performances throughout. It says a lot about Heath's performance that after all the hype he still didn't disappoint & blew Nicholson's Joker out of the water. As good as he was though, he doesn't steel the show thanks to some excellent performances by Caine, Freeman, Eckhart, Oldman & of course, Bale. My only regret is that Katie Holmes didn't come back for the sequel. I would've loved to have seen her get blown up!

Some of the bad ones: Iron Man 2 Whatchyoutalkinbout Willis? I loved this movie. How can you call it bad. Yes the first was better, and this could have been a little better, but still a good movie. What made it bad for you?

I hold the first one in very high regard. I'm very much a nitpicker with these sort of things. A Smark may be the term? It was OK, but I was expecting something a bit tighter & slicker. There was one silly scene where Stark was drunk, peed in the IM suit at the party after shooting his repulsors. Unnecessary.

Some of the bad ones Spider-Man 2 Spider Man 2 is the best of the trilogy for mine. 3 was shit, and I reckon even Spiderman is overrated.

thoroughly enjoyed the portrayal of Doc Oc in spidey 2....and as for Iron Man 2...it was alright, as was Silver Surfer....agree with you on Blade 2 was much better than 3

Not my no 1 genre but i still have enjoyed a quite a few. The recent batmans were right up my alley the darker the better for me
Hated batman forever right?.The one with arnie ,batgirl all big names kicking ass with the most basic storyline. The spirt was just dreadfull as well.. As a kid my fav was Thor so really looking forward to it..Seen the shorts ,hopefully ill get to the flicks and watch it soon.
Edit Never read the comic books but 300 was my fav not very historically correct but right up my alley.
Also i agree recky blade 2 very underated..3 was crap!

the Supermans were alright till that pair of bollocks 3 & 4 (one with richard pryor and the other nuclear powered super clone guy)....and then we got Superman Returns, I still havent made my mind up with that one yet, although Spacey was a fairly good luthor, the man of steel was actually the preppy of steel IMO.
